WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SELF-CARE?

I have two main things that I like to do to take care of myself. The first one is cuddling up on the couch with a blanket and my dogs either watching TV, movies, playing video games or reading a book. My second go to is to engage in movement. I am actively engaged in running, CrossFit, and lifting weights.

WHAT ARE 5 THINGS YOU ARE GOOD AT?

  1. Painting rooms without having to tape any edges.

  2. Writing in cursive.

  3. Tripping over my own feet.

  4. Making blankets.

  5. Shopping for shoes.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE AND WHY?

One of my favorite quotes is by Deepak Chopra which says, “in the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside you.” It is one of my favorites because it reminds me that when things are stressful, chaotic, or urgent around me it helps me focus on the internal stability I can have with the way that I think or approach something. It reminds me to be gracious, patient, calm and strong.

WHAT IS AN INTERESTING FUN FACT ABOUT YOU?

When I was younger, I was in golf lessons, and somehow got a golf tee lodged in my ankle. I had to get stiches as a result. I to this day have no idea how it happened but certainly have my theories!

WHAT LED YOU TO PURSUE A CAREER AS A THERAPIST?

I originally went to school to become a strength and conditioning coach. I was really into exercise and mentoring those around me. While in college, I found that chemistry was a subject that did not click for me. I not only took chemistry once and did not pass but decided to take it a second time. With a determined spirit I took the course again and paid out of pocket. Looking back, I know it was the moment life was suggesting I pivot in my career choice as I did not pass a second time. In spending time exploring career paths, I honed in on the notion that I enjoyed being a mentor, a support, and a teammate for others. I found myself increasing my opportunities to serve in mentorship roles and while playing the sport of lacrosse I developed a deeper passion for advocating for mental health awareness.
